MEET Mr.Birdie

Interview with Otto “Mr. Birdie” Muñoz
Founder of Mr. Birdie, a virtual golf sim pop-up in Miami

Q1: What sparked your passion for golf, and how did it evolve into the idea for a virtual golf pop-up in Miami?
Otto (Mr. Birdie):
“My passion for golf started simply from having friends who shared the same interest in the game. It began as a fun, friendly competition—an activity we could all enjoy. Over time, that competitive spirit and camaraderie turned into a genuine passion for the sport. Eventually, I wanted to find a new way for us to enjoy golf together, which led me to explore the concept of virtual golf. Bringing this pop-up to Miami felt like the perfect way to let people experience the sport in a fresh, more accessible way.”

Q2: What were the biggest challenges in launching Mr. Birdie, and how did you overcome them to bring a new golf experience to the city?
Otto (Mr. Birdie):
“The biggest challenge was connecting with the golf community beyond the traditional golf course. I had to figure out how to reach local golfers who shared the same passion but maybe didn’t have the typical membership or course access. Ultimately, partnering with local businesses, attending golf events, and getting out there to meet people face-to-face made all the difference. It showed them that virtual golf can be just as fun and competitive—maybe even more accessible—than a standard round on the fairway.”

Q3: How do you see Mr. Birdie shaping the local golf community, especially for newcomers or golfers who might not fit the traditional mold?
Otto (Mr. Birdie):
“We’re creating a space where the golf community can come together in a way that influences both social and personal growth. It’s not just about the sport itself, but about connecting people who can help each other grow—whether that’s in their game, their businesses, or even just making new friends. By offering a more casual, fun environment, we’re making golf more accessible and inclusive for everyone.”

Q4: In what ways does technology enhance (and perhaps even change) the way we experience golf at Mr. Birdie? Do you think it’s attracting a different kind of player?

Otto (Mr. Birdie):
“I think it elevates the sport by giving you insights an average golfer wouldn’t usually have on a traditional course. With access to real-time stats and swing analysis, it adds an entirely new layer of information and improvement potential. It’s less about attracting a different type of player and more about creating a new kind of golfer—someone who can use that data not just for fun, but to genuinely work on their game. It transforms golf from a leisure activity into a dynamic training experience.”

Q5: Where do you see Mr. Birdie in the next few years, and how do you hope to continue innovating within the golf space—both in Miami and beyond?

Otto (Mr. Birdie):
“My next big step is opening a brick-and-mortar spot—an exclusive clubhouse for our members. I envision a place where golfers can watch games, meet up, play, and enjoy extra perks. Eventually, I’d love to bring that experience not only to Florida, but nationwide. It’s all about building a community hub that blends technology, competition, and social connection, making golf more accessible and exciting for everyone.”
